Geological Wonders Undara Tubes & Cobbold Gorge

Two amazing geological wonders await your discovery in the Australian Outback, in Queensland’s Gulf Savannah country. The Undara Lava Tubes and Cobbold Gorge. These two places are of national significance and have been put under protection and preservation for the enjoyment of future generations.

The Undara Lava Tubes are in the Undara Volcanic National Park. Cobbold Gorge is in a 5,000 hectare privately owned and protected Nature Refuge. Access to both is on guided tour only.

Cobbold Gorge Tours is owned and operated by the Terry Family, who have been grazing cattle here since 1964. Simon Terry is the man who discovered Cobbold Gorge and runs the property with his wife Gaye and their family. They have been providing Cobbold Gorge tours since 1994. They are passionate about showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the Gulf Savannah country through their trained Savannah Guides and were proud to start running guided Undara Lava Tubes Tours in 2025.

Cobbold Gorge and the Undara Lava Tubes are geographically separated by some 234km of road, but you can expect the same great customer service from this award-winning team, at both attractions.
