Forsayth is a historic town that has seen the booms and busts of gold and mining and has a rich railway history – it’s also the gateway to the award-winning Cobbold Gorge. It’s the perfect place to base yourself for exploration around the immediate attractions, including Cobbold Gorge, the nearby Agate Creek agate fields, Charleston Dam, Copperfield Gorge and Einasleigh.
The accommodation options include air conditioned, ensuited rooms, as well as powered camping and caravan sites, all of which are in close proximity to the town’s iconic Goldfields Hotel which has a licensed bar, café and bistro.
Take the time to take a self-guided tour of the historical displays in Caschafor Park, which includes the former police goal, various mining equipment and artefacts, as well as lots of local railway information including a locomotive you can climb into. The park is also home to several pieces of beautifully crafted public art and timber carvings.
